Four students at the U-M Department of Climate and Space have been honored with distinguished awards from the College of Engineering. The 2025 Student Leaders and Honors Awards recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in leadership and service within the community and field of engineering.
Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement
This award is presented to an outstanding graduate student (Master’s or Ph.D. students) in each degree program. Criteria considered by the department awards committee include student’s active participation in research, leadership and their academic performance, or GPA.
Congratulations to the following students who have been selected:
- Ayesha Saeed — Ayesha Saeed earned a master’s degree from the University of Michigan Department of Aerospace Engineering, and she has worked as a graduate student instructor. She is studying to earn a Ph.D. in Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering.
- Victoria Scheidt — Victoria Scheidt graduated in December 2024, earning a Master’s of Engineering in Applied Climate, a degree program that was recently renamed “Climate Impacts and Solutions.” She has participated in volunteer work and internships at NOAA and the National Weather Service, as well as the Women in Science and Engineering Residence Program (WISE RP) and the CLaSP Curriculum Committee.
Distinguished Academic Achievement Undergraduate Award
This award is presented to an outstanding undergraduate in each degree program. Criteria considered by the department awards committee include academic achievement, exemplary character, leadership in class and activities, and potential for success in future endeavors.
Congratulations to the following students who have been selected:
- Lara Tobias-Tarsh — Lara Tobias-Tarsh is studying to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Climate and Meteorology at the University of Michigan. She has lended her skills as an undergraduate researcher, an instructional assistant, and a research aide at the Argonne National Laboratory, as well as serving as president of the U-M Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.
- Nolan Tribu — Nolan Tribu is studying to earn a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the University of Michigan. He has served in leadership roles on the SunRISE Mission Ground Radio Lab as part of the System Integration Team and he has volunteered his service for the U-M Running Club.
